PHOTOvent

– the filter workstation for evidence screening and photography

Evidence processing often requires a great deal of PPE. PPE is necessary to help preserve evidence and avoid contaminating it. Not only can the evidence expose investigators to harmful material, but so can the treatment processes used to process the evidence. Our PHOTOvent workstations are specially designed to help address some of these issues and make working with evidence safer and cleaner.

PHOTOvent‘s unique integrated filter system is built into the work surface. Fumes and lose particulates like dust and fingerprint powders get pulled into our multi-stage filter system to reduce the risk of inhalation and contamination without needing external ventilation hookups.

Our PHOTOvent workstations come in two sizes and have fixed or motorized height adjustable options to be used sitting or standing. They also have a camera column with manual or motorized height adjustment options, depending on the needs of your camera system.

The stainless steel work surface is easy to clean, durable, and can withstand harsh cleaning peroxide and alcohol solutions needed for DNA decontamination.

Two Size Options

PHOTOvent comes in the larger PHOTOvent LH151-L (right) and the smaller PHOTOvent LH151-S version.

The S model has a work surface of 100 x 70 cm (W x D), and the L model dimensions are 150 x 75 cm.

Other variations are also available with EVIscreen .

Height Adjustable Work Surface

The working surface of both PHOTOvent models can be adjusted in height. They use synchronized, motorized pillar columns to evenly raise or lower the work surface height. Controls for this and the ventilation system can be accessed via the integrated touch panel display that slides out from under the work surface.

Motorized Camera Column

The motorized camera column of PHOTOvent allows for coarse and fine camera positioning with ≈ 0.3mm accuracy.

All cables for the workstation and cables you may need for your equipment can be run through our cable management chain system, which organizes cables to keep them out of the way and prevents cables from pulling or getting tangled when the height of the workstation or camera column is adjusted.

For buildings with uneven floors that cannot provide an even or low vibration surface, we recommend using the wall mounting bracket to fix the camera column of PHOTOvent to the laboratory wall.

Multistage Filter System

Our multi-stage filter is designed to reduce odours, fine dust, and larger particulates, helping to keep your workstation cleaner and safer—this same filter system type in our fingerprint powder workstation, POWDERado.

The Class M5 prefilter mat helps extend filter life by filtering out larger particulates first, and our Class H13 HEPA filter filters out finer particulates and dust. These are easy to access and replace without tools and, when paired together, reduce operating expenses by increasing the life expectancy of your filter unit. For additional odour reduction, an activated carbon filter mat is also available.

Fan speed can be controlled via the touch panel display. In addition, the integrated filter management system informs the user how much filter life they have left and when the filter needs to be changed, so users do not need to track when to change the filter manually. Instead, when it’s time for a new filter, users can quickly and easily change the filter themselves without any tools.

A Complete Setup

PHOTOvent is always delivered as a fully functional unit, ready for workstation use.

The workstation setup includes cable management chains and power connections for additional equipment, like lights and camera setups. We also have a shelf that adjusts with the camera column for extra equipment.

Included with a standard order is our wall mount for the workstation camera column for those who later decide they want to wall count their camera system.

Additional Options

For users who do not wish to photograph evidence with the workstation surface as a background, we can supply a 50x50cm large evidence surface with a printed scale, available in either matte black or white.

LIGHTcube and LIGHTrail can also be equipped with this system for various lighting options, suitable for multiple evidence types. If used, this can also be connected to CONTROLbox to adjust lighting quickly and easily. CONTROLbox also allows users to mix lighting options, save lighting settings as custom scenarios, control their camera and work surface height and filter fan speed, all from a single user-friendly display.

PHOTOvent can be equipped with either a fixed camera mount or an articulated camera mounting arm that allows a camera system to easily be adjusted to glide parallel to a work surface for easy photography with minimal time spent on refocusing any camera lenses (see image). This same camera arm is used with our EVIscreen camera column systems and can be customized to your specific needs. Contact us for assistance ordering a custom option.
