LIGHTcube

– the new modular forensic light source
LIGHTcube forensic light sources are modular. They can be scaled and combined in many different ways and are compatible with several other systems. This system was designed explicitly for forensic needs and can be used in the lab and field.

Every module has a particular colour of light. Each light can be adjusted manually via the control pad on the back of each module, allowing users to change the light angle and intensity of the light. Multiple modules can be attached to a single handle system and be used at once if desired. The quick connection system on every module makes it easy to quickly and securely connect new modules to a handle system. The handle system can be operated with a corded battery pack or a battery attached to the handle for a cordless setup. Our handle system can also connect via a power cord to an outlet for benchtop use.

LIGHTcubes are designed to be easy to clean and DNA safe, so they are intended without cooling fans and vents that could blow evidence and displace it or suck in debris that could later contaminate other evidence.

Modules can be ordered individually or as customizable kits. Thanks to their compatibility options, more modules and accessories can always be ordered later.

Modular and Scalable

In the simplest form, LIGHTcube can be used on our basic handle system. The handle system can be operated with a corded battery pack, connected to the base of the handle via a spiral cable, or with a battery attached to the handle base for a cordless setup. Our handle system can also connect via cord to a wall mains power outlet for benchtop use.

Combining many different modules makes LIGHTcube a versatile system with many applications in the lab or at a crime scene.

Users can adjust the light intensity of each module, add more modules of a single colour to increase the intensity further, or combine modules of different colours if desired.

Multiple Colors and Combinations

LIGHTcube is a multispectral system—many colours are available from UV to IR and two different white light temperatures. Modules with specific colours have a narrow range of light wavelengths emitted, making it easier to see the evidence with better contrast when used with our colour-codes filters and goggles. In addition to offering specific colours for different applications, we also provide medium and narrow light angles for photography and evidence examination.

Currently available modules:

  • neutral white (5000K)
  • daylight white (6500K)
  • UV (365nm)
  • violet (410nm)
  • royal blue (447nm)
  • blue-green (470nm)
  • cyan (505nm)
  • pure green (530nm)
  • orange (590nm)
  • red (630nm)
  • IR (850nm)

Additional colours are available by request.

LIGHTcube Color-Coded Camera Filters and Safety Goggles

The narrow band of intense excitation light from a light source must be filtered out to see better the fluorescence it creates. So we’ve provided high-quality filters and goggles that cut out harmful or interfering light without reducing light from fluorescence. Out safety goggles also help protect your eyes from intense light.

Each filter and goggle set is specially tailored to a specific type of LIGHTcube module. To match the suitable filters and goggles with a module, all our filters and goggles have a unique colour-coding system matched to your module colour labels. This allows users to find the goggles and filters they need quickly.

Goggles have high-quality polymer filters that are durable and provide even light filtration and protection to make evidence easy to see and keep eyes safe.

We also offer the option to order unique custom selections of camera filters in different sizes and connection types, giving you the perfect filter for your camera equipment.

DNA Safety

LIGHTcube is designed to be easy to clean and DNA safe, so they are designed without cooling fans and vents that could blow evidence and displace it or suck in debris that could later contaminate other evidence. Instead of a cooling fan, modules are cooled via passive cooling through their metal housing. In addition, the internal system monitors the temperature to ensure the modules stay in a safe operating temperature range.

If additional cooling is needed for prolonged use, extra unused modules can always be attached to increase the cooling efficiency.

LIGHTcube Additional Accessories

The LIGHTcube-Programm series has a wide variety of accessories and compatibility options. Accessories like tripod mounts, mini tripod feet, and camera hot-shoe adaptors make it possible to set up stacks of LIGHTcubes as freestanding light sources or mount modules on a camera system for easy photography at a scene.

Different accessories, handle kits, and goggles can all be ordered in a durable, compact transport case for practical storage and transportation.

LIGHTcubes can also be connected to and controlled with our LIGHTrail and CONTROLbox accessories. These give users more lighting setup options and allow many modules to be controlled simultaneously via a user-friendly touch-screen display.

Custom or Pre-Made Kit Options for LIGHTcube

Thanks to their modular features, you can design your LIGHTcube kit tailored to your needs. We also offer pre-selected kits for grab-and-go application-specific options, like general crime scene work or looking for body fluids or fingerprints.

Additional modules and accessories can be added to any kit later to expand your forensic capabilities.

Each pre-selected kit comes in a BASIC and PRO version and can be expanded if desired.
